Roselily and Marigold Bouquets

I planted some new lily bulbs early this spring, and I’ll definitely be buying more. They are a double lily called roselily and they’re gorgeous. They don’t have the pollen covered anthers that a regular lily has, so no pollen to stain the flower petals or your tablecloth. I bought my bulbs from Eden Brothers. I bought a pink mix and a white mix, so I’m not sure of the specific variety names. The stems are a little on the short side. I’m hoping they’ll come back a little taller next year.

I also harvested the first ageratum of the season. This reseeds itself every year, love that!! I also grow it because it’s blue, so it’s a major ingredient in my famous red, white & blue bouquets that I’ll have as soon as my red zinnias bloom, I’m hoping in the next week or two. I’m short on my white ingredients this year. I was counting on my dahlia called small world which is an adorable pompon variety about the size of a golf ball. I had a whole bed of them the last few years. Unfortunately I lost over half of my dahlia tubers this winter because I didn’t check on them in storage and they dried up to the point where they weren’t usable. I’m hoping the few that did survive will carry me through. We’ll see.

The bouquets I delivered to Hopewell Market on Friday sold out, so I brought more Saturday. They had the same ingredients except I added some lemon basil as foliage.
