June 23, 2026 - The Last of the Peonies Until Next Spring

Peonies are the focal flower in today’s bouquets, and they are the last of my peonies for this year. I’m hoping for a better crop next year. I lost several this sprint due to a frost that hit when a lot of new buds were coming on.

The fillers in these bouquets are fama scabiosa or pincushion flowers, bachelor buttons, and the last of my mini sunflowers, and also the last of my saponaria.

The foliage is bupleurum. This is my first harvest of bupleurum this year, and I really wish I had grown more. I love the adorable yellow flower clusters and the way the stem looks like it’s growing up though the leaves. It’s such an interesting structure. Where ever there is leaf, a stem grows from that point.
